Here are some real comments from some folks happy to have learned about Sebor.

Absinth makes the heart grow fonder.

From John Waters movie crew:

From Robbie:

Kyle:

I got both bottles yesterday! The package arrived with both bottles in tact and everything was alright. I was so surprised to get them that I immediately fixed a glass for myself. MMM, it was the best I have ever tasted. Your Absinth is so smooth and dreamy tasting. Kyle, you have a customer for life. I am throwing an Absinth get-together this Halloween weekend! I am sure you will hear from me again very soon with another order!

Thanks Again!
Robbie

From a man who makes others famous:

yo kyle, you the man i got the case the other day! look forwards to many more orders. you will see many different messsages from me from different places since i travel around alot with different bands. so if it seems like it has to do with music, then it's from me- j s ps i'm enjoying some sebor right now

From Switzerland:

Hi Kyle,

Your first package arrived last week (that one with one collector's bottle plus the drinking pipe).

I already tried your absinthe and I must say, wow, that it es fantastic, no comparison with Hill's, which
is disgusting and only for teenagers, or maybe it is to be used as an anti-freeze solution for my car. I cannot believe too that it should be 70ƒ. Yours has a fantastic colour, smells very nice and tastes great,
with some fine bitterness. It is not too high in alcohol, which is nice too, because I prefer to drink all liquors pure without diluting them.

We have some nice absinthe too, here in Switzerland. But as it is illegal to produce it, you cannot buy it
directly from the maker, but only over resailers that do not know where it comes from, so the quality varies a lot. Sometimes it is even better than yours, but often it is disappointing. So in the future I will buy
it from you

Regards, J.

my friend Kyle,

the collector bottle of sebor arrived today, excellently packaged and in fine condition. it is taller and more magnificent than i had imagined! many thanks!
(now, give me strength to open this beauty...)

Kyle,
First, some praise--feel free to add part or all to your website "comments;" if you do, just label it "From C in New Jersey".

Thanks for your swift response. The meticulously-packed collector's bottle arrived just in time to to add a magnificent green splash to the red-white-&blue of the July 4 holiday. And what a pleasure it is! I cannot compare Sebor with any other absinthe, this being my first exposure to it, but find it hard to imagine anything better. (On aesthetic grounds alone, it demolishes Pernod: it is subtler, more complex, more delicate--and, of course, much more beautiful.) As to the mental effects: Two of us drank modest amounts, and our reactions differed somewhat. I perceived myself to be uncommonly lucid, and
seemed to be talking with great precision (more as I might write, as opposed to the language of everyday conversation). My friend, on the other hand, reported that she turned dreamy. Both of us felt noticeably warm and relaxed. At some point, we will see what happens with three or more glasses.
I'm particularly delighted with the way Sebor transforms one of my favorite drinks, the New Orleans cocktail called Sazerac. I though it was good made with Pernod, but the Sebor Absinth raises it to another plane entirely. God willing, I will never have to go back to the old way again. One of your correspondents offered a nice Sazerac recipe. I'd like to add this one, which is regarded as the classic or purist version:
3 oz. bourbon whiskey
1/2 teaspoon superfine sugar
1 ice cube
5 drops Peychaud bitters (a distinct type, red in color, made in New Orleans)
1/4 teaspoon absinthe or Pernod
1 strip lemon peel
Place the whiskey, sugar, and ice in an old-fashioned glass; stir to dissolve the sugar; add the bitters and absinthe, stir again briefly, and drop in the lemon peel.

The result is a taste of great complexity, with what I think of as a hint of decadence. My own preference is to omit the lemon peel and use two ice cubes. And now that I've got Sebor, more absinthe seems called for! More than most, this drink can stand being tailored to the drinker's taste.

I was extremely pleased with your product. I shared some with friends
and I believe that they will be contacting you shortly in order to
obtain their own private stock. Thank you for your h

Hey Kyle-

Got my Sebor Absinth on my birthday on 22 April. Nice gift. Really enjoyed drinking some absinthe last night. It was very smooth. Quite a good taste! We used our homemade absinthe spoon and mixed it 1 part absinthe to 1,5 part icy cold water (and of course a sugar cube). Wow! Definitely made for a fun evening. Well, your stuff is definitely much better than anticipated and I would highly recommend others to give it a try.
Thanks Kyle!!

From Chris:

Hey...
Kyle, I must thank you very much for the 2 bottles you sent to me a few weeks ago. I am becoming more and more fond of this incredible liquor with each glassful! Last evening, I opened the second of my 2 bottles & I find that I would love to have some more... I will be mailing you an order form for 2 more original bottles very soon.

Thank you again. I was sure before I found your web site that I would never get to sample this curious drink. I appreciate your service as I am sure many others do!

From Tator:

Kyle
Just wanted to let you know that your package was received once again like clockwork. Thanks again.

From Steve:

Excellent liquor! I ordered through the UK branch via credit card, and about 3 weeks later I get my receipt air mailed and 3 days afterwards my package arrives! I tried 3 glasses (as per Wilde) last night, one prepared the traditional way, and the other two mixed with lemon-lime soda and the effect is incredible!
The taste takes getting used to; a heavy black liquorice flavour, but the presence of alcohol is nearly undetectable in the throat or the stomach, unlike any other spirit I've drunk.
By the third glass, I was gazing into the beautiful streaks of light created by light shooting between the ice cubes in the opalescent mixture like rays of sunlight through the trees in the woods.

From DAVID:

Kyle,
I recently purchased a bottle of your absinthe, and think that it is the greatest thing in the world, I am interested in purchasing a case and I was wondering if there was any way of speeding up the ordering process for larger orders like mine. So if you would please get back to me.

From Denise

Kyle,
I finally tried your product. It was refreshing, delicious, and quite effective. I shared the expereince with a special friend and he agreed.
I will be ordering another bottle soon!

From Jason:

Kyle,
I had only to wait 7 days for the Collectors Edition bottle to arrive, it came this noon to be exact! The bottle is more beautiful than it appears on the Sebor website. It actually is very tall and the color and appearance of the Absinthe is incredible. I am very ecstatic and I have you to thank for it! From my first email, to the time that the package arrived, took less time than I had imagined. In addition your quick response and courtesy is appreciated! I will take the first drink tonight with a small group of friends and the first drink will be a toast of sorts, to YOU!

Thanks again for everything,
Jason

From Bob:

My green stuff arrived............ your a good man Kyle!

Dear Kyle,

I hope this message finds you well. I lost touch with you in September, but Kallisti pointed me towards your new address. The website looks cool, BTW.

I have been enjoying the Sebor in multiplicative ways, including Hemingway's favorite, Death in the Afternoon (pour half an ounce of Sebor into a champagne flute, then top with champagne. This led to quite the New Years' celebration!).

That being said, I need to replenish my supply. By the website, the going price for a liter (1/2 glass, 1/2 plastic) is $60. Is a domestic (i.e., USA) post office or bank money order okay? I remember that the last time, that international money order seemed like it took forever and a day.

Drop me a line when you have a chance.

Sincerely,
From Boston:

From Hawaii:

Kyle:

It's tremendous! Thanks. All came through okay. The pipe is so cool I'm going to order another one.

I'm off to the South pacific for a week. I'll be in touch when I get back.

By the way my Girlfriend wants to know if there is a translation available for the writing on the bottle labels? Could you give us one?

From Jo

Kyle,

Everything arrived perfectly even though the U.S. Postal authorities nearly destroyed the outer box. The contents were saved by your excellent packaging!

The Sebor Absinth is as expected - the best I've ever had. All others pale by comparison.

Thank you for your great service,
Jon

From Kris:

Status:

My order arrived today, 11/06, and it's in perfect shape. As I sit here writing to you, I'm watching my glass of Sebor turn the much proclaimed opalescent green.
Magnificent! The first sip is wonderful, wonderful, and again wonderful! It's everything I'd hoped for, and what a kick, like a velvet mule. I so wish I'd found your site before
placing my previous order for Sw(H)ills so called absinth. Holy shit what a difference. I will be placing my next order with you after the holidays, that is if this bottle lasts that long. Best wishes and a happy holidays, Kris K.

From Noel:

The package arrived Friday morning safe and sound! I noticed that you took extra care in your already excellent packaging. I cannot thank you enough for your kindness in resending me the Sebor. I will drink a toast in your honor tonight and will send pictures soon!

From MK:

Kyle,
Thank you for the package. I definitely want some more.. Tried Sebor, then Hill's... No comparison. There is absolutely no redeeming or aesthetic qualities to the Hills brand. I have no interest in ever trying that again. But the Sebor is delightful..
Thanks, MK

From Theresa:
Hi Kyle, YES !!! It arrived and the surprise was wonderful. Thank you so much and I'm sure I will be purchasing more in the future. Hope you are safe and sound.

From Jeremy:
About two weeks ago, my girlfriend's order of your Absinth arrived, and we haven't left the bottles alone in that time. Before we found your website, I'd been looking for years for absinth. For our anniversary, she surprised me with a complete antique absinth set- two glasses, two saucers, and two spoons perforated with holes, all about a hundred years old. We found your website by accident, and before long we were ale to enjoy the real thing in proper ceremony- and it's everything I've hoped it would be. Thank you all for your fine drink, and for keeping true to the spirit of the original spirit.

From Anil:
I just thought I let you know that I received my order today of a case of Sebors. I arrived safely and all its contents were intact. It took about a week from your last email telling me that you had sent the order. Can't wait to try some, I am having a couple of friends come over and so its going to be a great time. You have done it again. Cheers to Kyle.....

From Benjamin:
It has arrived! I am enjoying my first glass right now. I'll let you know how it is, but so far it's got an amazingly good taste of anise, compared to Hill's which has the amazingly awful taste of mouthwash. It's starting to get to my head right now, so I think I'd best be going.

From Chris:
I received the two bottles today. They arrived in good condition. I am drinking a glassful as I write this to you.

Wow. This is good stuff, very potent. It has quite a strong taste & is more flavorful than I imagined. Is there any way you could translate the writing on the label for me? Thank you very much!

From John:
Dear Kyle, We had our first taste last friday night. WOW!!!

The first glass, I found to be a bit unpleasent, this cold anise drink was not that appealing.

The second glass, with the same mix of 1 part Absinth to 1.5 part water, a sugar cube and two ice cubes, was better.

For the third glass, I reduced the water to be the same volume as the Absinth and added a third ice cube. Then it hit me.

The sensation reached my fingers and toes, a very strong effect. The absinth appeared to be no less than luminecent. The glass became a huge bouquet of anise and fennel, lucious . . . . .. The residual sugar popped in my mouth like sodium bicarbonate candy.

I did drink too much (4-5 drinks total) and the alcohol soon became too much. (I am a beer drinker exclusively, and I don't have that kind of tolerence.)

But the absinth remained kind to my digestion. And the sensation was still noticeble the next morning, when I found that my eyes were sensative, and attracted, to anything green.

I am most impressed with the drink. And I thank you for the service.

From Italy:
Dear Friend! Pack it's arrived two days ago: 4th of March, quickly isn't it! It's fabolous Sebor taste is great! I don't understand yet which is the right amount of absinth you put for have a glass I've read some where that it's 1.5 oz. that should mean 3 gr. and then you full the glass with water and a cube of sugar.... It's right?

It's strange because first time I tried, I put very few of Sebor and I felt "stoned" (warm and happy but not buzz) but the same evening I have two glasses with much more absinth but nothing happened (except for a growing felling of tireness)... In any case I found it perfect! Let me know if you like give me some advices. I will write you soon for the next bottle ^_^ until then Thanks a Lot ! Ciao

From Carl in the UK:
Many thanks. It arrived on Friday. Sebor is definitely a much superior product to Hills.

From Belgium:
Due to all kinds of unexpected circumstances I had to wait until sunday before I could sit down to some serious tasting, in the company of my good friend Pieter. After ripping the box apart in eager anticipation we contemplated for about ten minutes upon the greenish contents of the bottle(s). Too bad all the stuff on the label is in the Czech language, we couldn't decipher a word of it. Then followed the solemn moment of the 'unscrewing of the top' and an extensive sniffing and smelling session. Obviously, it smelled a bit like Pernod, but with many more subtle fragrances and nuances. This was confirmed after tasting : a staggering herbal complexity, we only could identify the anise and the fennel for sure. The nice thing is that, even when you take a glass of ice-cold water and add only a few dashes of the absinthe you get the full aroma. I think it's the ultimate drink for the summer, to be enjoyed in a laid-back French style on a sunny porch or a cafe with an outdoor terrace. Meanwhile, I discovered a recipe for an old-style New Orleans 'Mardi Gras' cocktail that originally calls for absinthe as one of its ingredients.

Here's the recipe of the "Sazerac" (mardi gras was only yesterday).

  1. take a whiskey-glass and crush a sugercube in it that has been soaked in angostura (an orange bitter)
  2. add 0,7 cl absinthe and 4,2 cl whiskey (preferably bourbon)
  3. add two icecubes or so and mix all the ingredients with a spoon
  4. add an equal amount of soda or just plain water.
It's rather peculiar how the taste of the whiskey (in my case it was Jack Daniel's) seems to disappear completely and blends in with the sweet bitterness of the angostura and the absinth.

Hi Kyle,
I want to tell you it was a delight to drink the Sebor. I prepared it the traditional way - sugar, spoon, icewater over the spoon- and it worked out very well. Sebor doesn't cloud like the spanish brands I've had but the taste was very complex and I really enjoyed it. I'd put it up there with Lasala. I will defintely be ordering more and I have many friends who are interested as well.
Thank you.

From T:
Under ordinary circumstances I'm a cynic and a skeptic and a cheap bastard besides, but in a sudden fit of enthusiasm I ordered half a liter and sent a money order to his address. The next day, I returned to my old self, and I suspected I'd never see my order or my money again. But the package actually showed up today. It's emerald green, and smells like anise. It's labelled 110 proof, and based on the little sip I had, I believe it was indeed. Very bitter. I don't know if it actually has any wormwood in it, but I'm counting on the placebo effect to provide me with visions if the thujone doesn't.

From the UK:
Hi Kyle, We did a taste comparison of the sebor vs the hills and you're right - the hills is suitable for cleaning windows or computer components only.

From S:
Sebor is possibly the best liquor I've tasted. I've been giving to my parents without telling them about absinth lore and they love it. It's going to be a sad day when I run out, which will be soon.

From T:
Great news,
I recieved the bottles today and they were fine. I opened the non marked bottle to smell and I can tell you out of all the other kinds I've tried, Sebor definitley has the best bouquet. I can't wait to get home and enjoy a glass or two. Thank you Kyle, you will be hearing from me again soon.

From D:
Kyle,
I received my shipment yesterday. It was packaged well and all intact. When I got home I opened one of bottles so I could smell it. I had no intention of drinking any as I had class in a couple hours. Well, it smelled great. Much much better than that green colored jet fuel known as Hills. I though "Maybe I'll just have a tiny taste." I did. Great flavors and nice color. When that was finished I pured a full glass and drank it slowly over the next 45 mins. As I was walking to class the wormwood kicked in very nicely, almost too nicely...I almost turned around and went home. I did not relish the thought of doing Kung Fu hopped up on Absinth. I forced myself to go. After class one of my classmates said "You know, you were really focused out there tonite. More focused than I've seen you in a while." I said thanks and went home. I don't think I'll be doing that again.

The point of this long winded monologue is that Sebor is very well made, balanced and effective. I would not hesitate to purchase more from you in the future or recommend Sebor to others. It rivals the Spanish Absinthe in flavor.
Thanks

Still Scene From Belgium:
Kyle,
I just tasted a small amount of the pure stuff: it's delicious and exciting; for the moment I'm rereading the absinth chapter in pharmako/poeia (by Dale Pendell, Mercury House publ.) tonight I will enjoy the sophisticated green alien with my girlfriend and friends many greetings,
hans

From C:
I received the Sebor's today. The color is amazing! By far the deepest green I've seen any absinthe.

From JF:
Hello Kyle,
I found Sebor's Absinthe to be excellent, quite smooth and perfect for serving the traditional way. It also goes well with honey and lemon, for those willing to experiment a bit. The only trouble I had was rationing my supply, it's so good that it disappeared quickly.

From M:
It is far superior to Hill's.

From CA:
Hi Kyle! Package arrived with contents intact. You are right- the Sebors is as good or better than the Lasala in taste and smoothness. The color is a real eye-catcher! Many thanks!

From Sweden:
Hello again Kyle! The Sebor's brand was WOW! I really loved that one, the strong taste of Anise is really my taste indeed! The bitternes you can feel (don't know any better word) in behind of the Anise, is that wormwood or any other herb? So Kyle, as you allready figured it out, I want to order the Sebor's brand from you. NOW! Many thanks to you, Kyle.

From SF:
Hi Kyle -
We cracked it open on Friday night. Five of us finished off the Hill's and the Sebor, which made for a fantastic evening but a very hung over Saturday. That Hill's is rocket fuel! The vote was 5-0 in favor of Sebor, which had a much smoother, milder taste. I assume that's because the alcohol content is a lot less. What's the story on the thujone? Isn't Sebor supposed to have more?

From LA:
I received the bottles today -- you're the greatest. Tonight my fiance and I are going to start our meal with an aperatif of Absinth. The sip that I had when I was switching the bottles was enticing. Much more mild, and less bitter, than I had been expecting.

Thank you so much. I look forward to requesting more soon. The bottles that you sent are delicious, and there was a pronounced wormwood effect. The absinthe was wonderful. It was as drinkable and smoothe as the Spanish varieties, and it had a distinct and more pronounced herbal buzz.

It's the only absinthe I've ever tasted that I'd drink for the flavor alone. Thank you for the opportunity.

From S:
Well, my lovely fiancee emailed me today and let me know that the cruettes arrived...That means they got here in only 5 days! Plenty of time for the wedding, too.

From NY:
Kyle,
the Sebor's Absinth is quite excellent! all my friends who got to try some loved it! good taste, color, and effect! bravo, my friend! i finally got to use those absinthe spoons!!!!!!-yes, i enjoyed it Parisian style!

From NY:
kyle,
received it yesterday. thanks again! long live martin sebor!

From Germany:
Hi Kyle!
Yesterday the Sebor's has arrived. Thanks to circumstance that you packaged it VERY well, the content is also intact. My first impression on the smell is, that it is very "drinkable" - that means there is no "poisionous" odor like some other absinthes have. The second impression tends to think of a "different" absinthe. In fact, the herb content semms to be very good wighted against the alcohol, annis and fennel part.
